Emerging from the Cocoon: Identifying A State of Rebirth
Rebirth or revival is a process that can vary from person to person. It is closely linked to evolution, and while rebirth may seem scary or unfamiliar, it is an excellent place to be. The level you’ve been operating at no longer serves you, and rebirth is essential to elevate. The question, however, remains, “How do you know you’re undergoing a rebirth? While rebirth is not linear, and while it can be messy and fraught with emotion and doubt, signs indicate the rebirthing process - or at the very least, that you’re about to undergo some sort of rebirth.
Awareness: The first step towards rebirth is awareness of the need for change. You may feel as though the scales have fallen from your eyes, and you’re seeing everything with a freshness. This might involve acknowledging patterns or behaviours that no longer serve you and an intense desire to create new patterns or pursue new behaviours.
Acceptance: Once you know the need for change, the next step is to accept it. Acceptance can be a challenge. To grab hold of the new, you must let go of the old…old beliefs, relationships or habits.
Exploration: At this point, you feel like you need something “new.” This feeling is just you wanting to break out of the mould and embrace the new you you are evolving into. This might involve trying new things, seeking new experiences, or developing new skills.
Growth: Growth and rebirth are inseparable. You will have a greater appetite to learn new things about yourself and the world around you. You’ll want new perspectives that align with the new you.
Integration: As you grow and change, you'll need to integrate these changes into your life. This is a very intentional process that might involve creating new habits, building new relationships, or developing a new sense of purpose.
There may be times when you feel like you're regressing rather than progressing. However, by staying committed to the process and focusing on the end goal, you can emerge stronger and more fulfilled from this journey. The butterfly’s process of emerging from the cocoon is tedious and exhausting. However, when it emerged as the striking butterfly it was meant to be, the challenging process is always worth it.
That’s all great when you’re starting out but I feel like I am in the middle of the rebirth process. how do I know for sure?
Going through a rebirth process can manifest differently for different people, but some common signs may indicate you are going through a period of growth and change. Here are a few things to look out for:
Dissatisfaction with the status quo: If you feel stuck, unfulfilled, or unhappy with your current situation, this could be a sign that you're ready for change.
A desire for self-discovery: If you're feeling curious about who you are, what you believe, and what you want out of life, this could indicate that you're ready for a period of growth.
Letting go of old habits and relationships: If you find yourself letting go of things or people that no longer serve you, this could be a sign that you're making room for new possibilities.
Seeking out new experiences: If you're adventurous and willing to try new things, this could signify that you're open to new opportunities and ready for change.
Feeling a sense of uncertainty: If you're unsure or anxious about the future, this could be a sign that you're in the midst of a period of transition and growth.
It's important to note that these signs do not necessarily indicate that you're going through a rebirth process, but they may suggest that you're ready for change and growth in your life. If you're experiencing these signs, it may be helpful to reflect on what you want out of life and seek out support and guidance from loved ones, a therapist, or a coach.
