Lessons in Motherhood from the Sisterhood

At some point, women and scientists noticed more and more that parenting doesn’t have to be “accidental.” In fact, being intentional when parenting is a powerful means of connecting with our children and teaching them.

The understanding of parenting with intention rose drastically in the early 2000s with parenting talk shows on the rise (like the international “Supernanny”) and more and more parenting-related content being curated.

Like with any observance and discovery, people try new things or in this case, new ways of parenting. And girls, we have seen a few things (maybe we’ve tried some of them) come our way. From “permissive’ and “tiger” parenting to “dolphin” and “helicopter” the terms and “advice” have left us reeling.

We learnt the lessons, what works, and what doesn’t and we’re still learning. While we learn to walk the tight-rope that intersects discipline, understanding, listening, time with our children, hearing what they are not saying, self-care and more, one thing is certain…and that one thing is that our children have taught us more lessons about life and ourselves than we realise.

The LDH Sisterhood have shared some of the lessons they have learnt from their children.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom sisters. Check out what they have to say below.
