Best Life Bootcamp: Daily Mindful Habits
Women's month is already upon us. We're more than halfway through 2023. With this in mind, we realise we're not going to arrive at some destination where we can finally live our best lives. Instead, living our best lives is a decision we make now. Life is happening right now. It's up to us to make those moments count. It doesn't have to be complicated. Ease into Women's Month by incorporating small daily habits to be more present and live your best life now!
Mindful Morning Routine:
Start your day with intention by taking a few moments to set a positive tone. Pay attention to the sensations of brushing your teeth, showering and having breakfast. Avoid rushing and savor each step mindfully.
Intentional Conversations:
Be intentional about a conversation. Connect with someone, even once a week, through a coffee or a video chat. Ensure it's someone who lights up your soul or with whom you have a genuine connection.
Mindful Eating:
Pay attention to your meals without distractions like phones or TV. Savour the flavours, textures, and aromas of your food. Chew slowly and appreciate each bite - we're also saying power down your laptop and do not work during this time.
Gratitude Journaling:
Gratitude helps us shift into a space where we feel like we're living our best lives. It helps us align in the present moment. As your day starts or ends, take a moment to jot down a few things you are grateful for. Reflect on positive experiences or moments of joy you encountered.
Walking Meditation:
We're convinced walking is good for the soul. Be fully present during your walks, whether from your car to the office or a stroll around the neighbourhood. Notice the sensations of your feet touching the ground, the feel of the air on your skin, and the sights and sounds around you.
Mindful Commuting:
Loadshedding and potholes needn't be our only focus when commuting or on the school run. Make this time yours instead of being frustrated by traffic or crowded public transport. Observe your breath and the passing scenery, or listen to calming music or guided meditations.
Mindful Bedtime Ritual:
Wind down at night with a calming routine. Dim the lights, disconnect from screens, and take a few minutes to meditate, pray or practice deep breathing before sleep.
Integrating mindfulness into daily routines can significantly enhance the quality of life and bring a sense of presence and joy to even the most mundane activities. So go on, girls, live your best lives.
