Changing Form

Metamorphosis. What an exciting word. Contemplating the ways of the butterfly, this word revealed itself in my mind. Butterflies are all about Metamorphosis. The meaning of the word is a compelling one.

Metamorphosis means to transmute or completely transform. It is rooted in ancient Greek: "meta" meaning "change " and "morphe" meaning "form." In other words, to "change form." The caterpillar changes form entirely to become the butterfly. So often, we want a complete shift in lifestyle or an entire career or country change.

Those feelings, I believe, point to something more profound. They are indicative of the inner transformation that needs to take place. We think of Metamorphosis as unattainable for which only extraordinary creatures are designed.

Yet, I believe that when we consciously pursue our transformation into our highest selves, we choose the metamorphosis process. Sometimes, we're undergoing change and may not even realise it. Friends or family "fall away." Perhaps doors close, or they open. Look closer. Observe what's really going on. In truth, you're changing. Sometimes the change is painful. A caterpillar completely disintegrates within its cocoon. Digestive juices rip its muscles apart, graphic, I know. However, imaginal discs have been present in the caterpillar, priming it since birth in preparation for its transformation into arguably the most beautiful insect.

There's the key right there. The cells have been present since birth for their transformation. Whatever you're going through right now, you have been primed since inception to not only manage the phase of life you're in, but to conquer it, emerging entirely transformed. There are no mistakes! You will conquer!

So, how do you know you're undergoing transformation? Check back in our next article to understand the signs of change.
