The Effects of Change in your Space
“Surround yourself with people that reflect who you want to be and how you want to feel, energies are contagious.”
– Rachel Wolchin
Truer words have never been spoken but I find that so few people take note of the fact that the space around you effects your energy as much as the people you surround yourself with. Take time to think about the various spaces you visit in your life, do you feel the same in a restaurant as you do in a hospital? There are those of us who believe in energies and those who believe in vibes, either way you look at it a space absolutely effects how you feel.
I am not saying Feng Shui your space, as productive that may be, but simply take into account what a space would be used for and how you would like to feel while doing it. A day spa has lots of light, pastel colours and natural features relaxing you while a casino has no direct light windows, flashing lights and no clocks almost hypnotising you and ensuring you have no sense in time so you can get lost in that world.
All of this involves the psychology of space, what the space is for and how you want to feel and what you will be doing in the space. This means that you can actively effect change by simply updating or changing your space. This can be something as small as a plant, change of lights or colour changes or even a full space update. Every space is unique just as you are, think about what motivates you, what moves you and what components of your life motivate you and comfort you. This is what personalises and creates your engagement within the space.
5 Points to use within your space include:
If you feel your space is perfect (no space ever is) take the time to make a small change or create a new one in the form of a meditation corner, reading nook or thinking chair. Fill it with aspects of your life that make you happy, and that you love. An area like this can make or break your morning by 10min and a cup of coffee.
KISS your space by keeping it simple stupid start with small changes like a change of color and declutter, the more the space makes you feel happy or motivated the easier it will be to get out of bed or sign that deal. Your space is a part of your life just like the people around you so treat it with the respect it deserves.
